Is It Ok for a Small Chihuahua to Fly Multiple Times During the Year?

I have a small chihuahua about 3bls – 4bls, she is full grown. I will be flying a few times through out the year. I was wondering if it is ok for my small chihuahua’s health, because she will be coming with me.

LOL! I had visions of a flying chihuahua! Are her ears big enough?

But seriously, it doesn’t harm you, it won’t harm her. She would rather be with you than not.

She should be just fine. People travel with their small dogs all the time. It might stress her out a bit, just make sure she is comfortable, has water, and if you notice any behavioral changes, get her to a vet.

I assume she will be with you on the plane in her doggy travel bag and not flying cargo. If that is the case, she will be just fine. The vet can give you a mild tranquilizer to give her before the trip if she is the skittish type. We travel with our shih tzu and toy poodle all the time. The only problem that has arisen for us is when our plane was delayed taking off, and we were stuck in the terminal for a couple of hours and were then getting on a 3 – 3-1/2 flight. We finally had to bite the bullet and take her outside to "go potty." Fortunately there were a couple of us, so someone stayed with our carryon luggage while the other went outside with the dog. Of course, that also entailed going thru security again. Good luck!
